It's Official And A New Solar Plan

A picture from the real estate listing.
Amy and I signed the official paperwork on March 17, 2014 and we're excited to start moving in. Luckily the current lease we have runs through June, so we can move in slowly.

I've started a spreadsheet to track the true cost of ownership of a house. We need to furnish the entire house, as we are leasing a fully furnished home. It is scary to see how easily it is to spend a lot of money! It is obvious my passion lies with technology, so that is where I have already started laying out the cash. I will be doing individual posts about products and services, such as the Sonos wireless speaker system and Tuft and Needle mattress I have bought. I hope my posts will be helpful to those interested in similar products or services.

The biggest disappointment so far was finding out that SolarCity does not service the Seattle area yet (I referenced them in the inaugural post). There are other services I need to check out, but SolarCity had an easy to understand business model and their data collection seemed pretty slick. The upfront cost of doing it on my own is too steep right now (probably at least a 7 year payback). Aside from the money, though, was wanting to be as carbon neutral as possible. Amy and I still have that goal, so we'll keep plugging away at it.

Click here to see more images of the house. That is all staging furniture. I'll share more as the house comes together.
